Ron,

He might be referring to the k&n setup designed for teh 4.7. It doesn't use
any of the stock setup (at least I don't think) but it draws it's air right
where the factory airbox is. The heat shield surrounds it and is open to the
hole in the fender. I, myself, would just punch a hole in one side of the
heatshield (towards the front of the truck) ans run an intake to where the
rubber flap is in the grill. That way I would still have the heat shield
drawing in air from the fender (some does come in there) and have teh direct
flow from the grill. Agin, this is on a 4.7. The setup on the 5.9/5.2 is
completely different. Stock is similar but still a little different.
