It's not required....but the V6 tensioner works perfectly on the V8's.

Subject: DML: Double Roller Timing Chain Tensioner?

Hi all.

I've been going through the threads on installing
the double roller timing chain from awhile ago.

There seemed to be a question on whether or not
there was a timing chain tensioner needed for the v8s (specifically, in
my case, for the 97 318). There is one listed as "New" in the 02 MP
catalog.

Anyone know if this question has ever been resolved?

Thanks.
Bob
