Pete,
Can't help ya on the a/c problem, but your gauge issue is most likely
the sending unit, seems to be fairly common, I had it on my '93 4x4.
Someone out there please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly sure the
sender is inside the tank, pretty much a pain to replace. So I just got in
the habit of using my trip odometer to determine when I needed gas :)
