Universal in no longer

I thought I would post this because I've never heard about universals here.
I found the rear most universal joint (going in the rear end) is dead. I
noticed a squeaking coming from the rear end when under heavy acceleration.
After two day the squeaking got louder and became apparent with a normal
acceleration, really just about anytime I touched the gas. Last night I
took the back wheels off to rule out the brakes, WOW do I hate drum
brakes!!! Everything looked fine, moved towards the transfer case, looked
fine. By chance I grabbed the rear drive shaft to move around and noticed
the play in the drive shaft rotated at the transfer case. I looked back and
rocked the drive shaft and saw it pivoting on one point of the universal
joint. It looks like one bearing decided it was time. Hey, look at the
good news, I only have 40,000 miles on the truck just past the warranty.
Anyone know if bullsh*tting with the service personel at the dealer gets you
anything like a discount?

I honestly believe that the mfg's design this sh*t to last right to the end
of the warranty and that's it.
