Yes, the map sensor is mounted on the front of the TB. It's not cheap
either.
If you haven't already done so, check for a vacuum leak. At least that's
free. If you've changed anything lately you may find a leak nearby.
Is there anyone near you with a similar Dak? I'm thinking you could at
least try their map sensor. It's super easy to change.
