you can see the clip that is on the outside of the caliper and the inside of
the wheel.

Tim, I haven't been following your saga too closely. Where's this clip?
  On the outside of the caliper, facing the inside face of the rim?
Could you snap a picture and email me direct with it so I can see where
to look? I suspect my results may be the same as yours and James'
considering we've all got very close "born on" dates, but it's worth a shot.

This weekend (weather permitting) I can take a few shots of my own
brakes if that'd help? But again, 4x4 vs. 2wd and close on the birthday.
