I believe the owner of the shop is still liable for his work...unless he was
a corporation, and he dissolved it. If he wasn't, he is liable, however,
it's hard to squeeze the red stuff out of a turnip. Good luck. This is one
reason one should check an independent out thoroughly before using them.
Get recent references for the same type of work you're going to have done.
Call them and find out if there were any problems and whether they were
resolved to the customer's satisfaction. Actually, you should do this with
everyone, independents and otherwise.

Mista blasta!! hee hee :)
Well the impression I got from the owner was "well what do you want me
to do? the shop is closed!" It was an independant machine shop. There
is no company left anymore. The mechanic came with me to the machine
shop, with the truck. The two of them (mechanic and machine shop owner)
listend to the engine.
When the mechanic and I got back to his shop, he said that the owner of
the machine shop was bull-shheting and wasn't going to do anything.
I also agree - its not my mechanics fault. He only installed the
engine. But if he is going to try and repair it for me and then pass to
cost on to me... thats not gonna work. I am going to talk to him
tomarrow and see what's what.
I'll keep ya posted!
