with all the suggestions that i've recieved over the years, i have tried to
eliminate the pinging problems on my 3.9L V6. however, i am not able to
correct the situation. i run fine at 93 (or any 90-93) octane, but when i
dip down to 89, or worse, 87 octane, the engine pings like mad. now, i've
switched over to the 180 degree t-stat, and 3923 plugs, but i still suffer
the problem.
now, could i go down to the 3922 plugs or the 165 T-stat to correct this
problem? i doubt that will answer the problem, but i would eventually like
to correct this problem. i checked the belly-pan gasket, and there was no
problem there... never have burned oil.
this is getting annoying (and expensive)... any help would be appreciated.
