Yeah... The "Little Pit of Horrors"... ;-)

: For a 360 engine, you might check out MP's P5007549. It's a direct
: replacement 360 Magnum MPI short block with the R/T cam.
: List price is $1633 but I know they usually discount these at various
: vendors.

Thanks for the info - for some reason I thought those were more
expensive. I have heard about some quality control issues, but I
don't know if they have any substance or not.

: The 318 MP computers are the same for '92 and '93 Dakotas. The 2001 MP
: catalog also listed the very same computer for the '92 and '93 Rams with
: 5.2. The '93 5.9 MP computer is P5249517 so it would seem you could use
: it. Don't understand why, but the 2002 catalog no longer lists the 5.2
: computer for the '92/'93 Rams.??? I actually have a '93 Ram, 5.9 MP
: computer that I tried out earlier this year. It functions with my 318 but
: didn't run as good as the 318 computer. (maybe too rich?)

Thanks for the info! Sounds like it would work then (to use a '93
computer), that's good to know.

: I don't recall if your Ram is auto or manual, but keep in mind the 360s are
: externally balanced so some other small changes may be in order.

Its an auto (A-518). I forgot about that whole balancing issue. Hmmm...
Would that require a machine shop to balance it, or can an alternative
vibration dampener be used, etc?

: I'd go the 360 route if repairs to the 318 are nearly as much.

That was my thought as well. :-)
