bottom line is that no matter how you color it, a 318 is always gonna be a
318. there are not any differences in the blocks used for auto vs manual
transmissions. they just don't make them that way. to go from a manual to
auto you'll definately have to use the flywheel off of your original 318 (or
get a new one for an auto trans) so that everything bolts up ok. you may
also want to make sure that the engine is still balanced after you switch
the flywheel as well.
