You do not need a business degree to run a successful business, though I
am sure it could be helpful. One thing that is fair for a customer to
expect is to at least return an email or a phone call, there is NO
excuse for that. If PayPal does not work for you, then by all means,
quit using it. I ran a one man operation Harley Davidson accessory shop
for a few years back in the 70s. Then, accountants and attorneys didn't
own Harleys, but bikers did. They were notorious for ordering stuff
from me and not wanting to pay for it when it did arrive, or writing me
bad checks, etc...it is a pain, but if someone gives you the $$ up front
for parts, there is certainly no excuse for not getting those parts to
them in a reasonable amount of time. We have been watching this for
sometime with Speedtweaks and I think the people on this list have had
experiences that they were kind enough not to flame about with
Speedtweaks because we respect Bernd's knowledge, but enough is enough.
If you are too diversified or over your head in this business, back off
and reduce your product line or something, but deliver what you promise
and for cripes sakes, return a phone call and an email. I, for one, am
not buying any excuse for that.

You work years to build a reputation. It only takes a few minutes (now
with
the Internet it's only a few seconds) of derogatory remarks to erase all
that. I have said it all on this site before and am only reiterating
Bill's
comments. It's unfortunate that most businesses have the expertise of
their
stock in trade but not enough expertise in managing the business itself.
That is the most important part. I can only imagine what Speedtweaks
has
gone through. I will sit still, be quiet, and watch this thing through
as I
have watched many others. Before you guys start flaming, I will admit
that,
if Speedtweaks owed me money or parts at this point in time (having read
other missiles) I might not feel quite as generous. For you other folks
who
are thinking about or are in the middle of your own business, if you
don't
have a degree in Business Administration, you should consider getting
some
serious advice from someone who has that degree (not me, I'm talking
about a
professional). Business ethics is business ethics. It hasn't changed
since
the greedy human has been placed upon this Earth.

Guys,
I know a lot of you guys are pissed off at Bernd BUT how many of
you
have started up a new business on a shoe string and had everything go
wrong
at once.
BE IT KNOWN> I am not taking up for Bernd or anybody else but until you
know
all the circumstances. Personal/Health problems can ruin any business.
Running a business is a 24/7 job and takes a mental toll on you, if you
don't
believe it just try it.
You don't own a business" It owns YOU"
I know Bernd made some errors in judgment and has learned from
them.
Now his biggest problem is to get things back on track and get you guys
your
refunds or parts PLUS pay off his suppliers. This ain't going to be easy
unless Ross Perot comes to the rescue. I, Personally would not like to
be in
his shoes right now because I know he's catching hell from all sides. I
don't
think he'll write you guys off and say to hell with you. Just be
optimistic
and have faith. Bill
