I've prepped and painted my own car before. It's not really that difficult.
if you're gonna prep it, you'll need to prime it before you take it
anywhere. then the body shop will have to do final prep and paint it. How
rough is the roof? is there any rust? you'll need to zap that with a
grinder... If you've never done any body work before I'd really recommend
you make friends with someone who has and have them help you, it's a fairly
complicated process. But if not, before you start on your real car, go to
the junkyard and pick up an old fender or hood or something (since you've
got the truck to get it home) this should not cost very much. Make sure
it's in similar condition to your maverick and work on that first so that
you can perfect your techniques...using books, friends, family, the
DML....... When your satisfied with your workmanship on the body piece and
you can get a nice glass smooth surface THEN start on the maverick. I hope
that this helps a little.
