Weird,

I've had the 80/100W bulbs in my truck for well over a year without any
issues. What's getting hot?

I installed a relay from the factory wiring into the the low-beam
headlights... the headlight switch would get too hot on my 80/100 bulbs
and would go out for short periods when driving for long distances at
night... relays are easy to install too :)
