I'd like to chime in my two bits worth here, if I may. When you remove the
IAC solenoid for cleaning, make sure you do not push the plunger into the
solenoid housing. The result, in my case, was a damaged IAC solenoid that
required replacement. When I did accidently push the plunger in, I said to
my self, "oh crap" but like a dummy, I tried to run it anyway. When I
started the engine, idle shot up to 3000 RPM and stayed there for a minute
or so then started climbing. Shut down the engine and made a quick run to
AutoZone for a replacement. Not an overly hard or expensive lesson to learn
but one I will not forget anytime soon.
