I had this happen on my '96 a long time ago. It turned out that the lock
cylinder went bad. It wasn't a very expensive part from the dealer and they
just keyed it to my keys with the pins kit they had right there. To take
off, drive to the dealer, rekey the new lock, drive home, and resinstall was
just over an hour and I lived about 10 miles form the dealer then.
