Jay,
That's correct, on the side opposite the rubber bladder, there's a screw hole in the middle of the metal backing. On a few that were harder to reach, I simply unscrewed them with a wrench and swapped in zerks with 90 degree bends. I've never replaced the OEM ball joints (124,329 miles on my '92), so I'm unsure if new ones come with zerks or not. I did however, have to replace my pitman arm, and that came from the local auto store (Schucks) with a zerk. I also replaced the needle zerks in my drivelines' u-joints with the snap kind so I could keep them greased too.
(Is this the part where I add...They just don't make them like they use to! --and run and duck?)

I have a 97 Dak, but what your saying is that on the 92's on the upper ball
joints that if they are not fitted with the Zerk fittings you can unscrew
the top of this joint and purchase a new one that has the Zerk fitting
attachment built in? I've looked at mine and they are all one piece and
unfortunately there is nothing that will unscrew to replace with an
aftermarket piece. I wish there was. Anyone with a 97 done this?
Thanks
Jay

joints and replaces the greaseless "caps" or needle fittings that are on
there now. I did this to my pitman arm when I had to replace that. Any
auto store should have them--I bought mine at Schucks. Hope this helps! By
the way, I grease 14 zerks every time I change my oil on my 92 CC 4x4 3.9L.
