Anyone happen to have a computer for a 98 Avenger 2.5 Auto laying around? I
need to prove that mine is good or bad. It runs 20 degrees retarded (limp
mode?).
Ive been through a sh!tload of parts chasing the problem. Tech at the 5*
are scratching their heads as well.
No codes aside from misses on all cylinders. No low end power, some power
at 3K and up.
Initially it was throwing codes on 2 cylinders. Did a tune up, changed out
the injectors on the two questionable cylinders, cleaned the fuel rail and
injectors, did an EGR valve.
Got it evened out, and throwing misses on all cylinders. Did a fuel pump
(100K), did a distributer (coil is part of it), did a CPS, verified cam
alignment bank to bank, and to crank, verified the flex plate was intact,
verified the damper keyway was intact, swapped a map sensor, checked the
main cat, blew out the precats, checked the rest of the exhaust for
blockage.
