First, there's never a need for all caps. It's very distracting.

Second, the bill is aimed at the ricers that are causing mayhem on Ontario
roads. At least once a month some Fast and Furious wannabe is schmucked
racing an essentially stock vehicle, usually a Honduh, with the usual
requisite mods e.g. huge aluminum wing, coffee can muffler with FartTone,
neon strips underneath and those blinkyblinky caps on the wheels. For the
average 16 year old this constitutes a race set up.

For the average EMS worker this constitutes a giant smear on the road
waiting to happen. Picture a fly hitting your windshield and multiply by
100,000. Do you have any idea how hard it is to clean that up in the dead
(pardon the pun) of winter? Sorry to be graphic.

The cops won't be pulling over everyone looking for a K&N CAI or Autolite
plugs or an MSD ignition or a blower. That's just pure alarmist propoganda.
This law is just another tool to help cops get these boy ricers off the
roads before they kill themselves or more tragically innocent bystanders,
which happens at an alarming rate. Anyone who deals with the aftermath of
these reckless and dangerous yahoo's welcomes this new law with open arms. I
know I do. It's a step in the right direction but I don't think it goes far
enough.

As for specialty vehicles, they'll still be allowed if they're registered as
such. It's that simple. On a somewhat related note, yesterday I was at the
Canadian Tire store in Bowmanville (me and the Mrs. were in the Caravan)
when I just about wept at what I saw; a Riced out GenIII Dak. It was red
with a red cap, ugly steel rims and this busted ass dually exhaust setup
composed of dual GIANT DTM tips at the end of *2"* pipe. LOL I almost
barfed. One of the tips was pointing up and the other tip was pointing down.
I guess he was rear ended. Oh yeah, he was taking up two prime parking
spots.

I think this type of thing should be banned by the Ontario Ministry of Good
Taste.
