You should bet him on that comment.

The only option is the 1500 variant will get the Hemi. Next summer the 04
Durango will get the Hemi. 2004 - Jan the 05 Dakota will get the Hemi.

Subject: DML: hemi engine

I stop into the dealer to get a 2003 brochure and just see what's
stirring up. I get to talking with a salesman
and he was asking about what motor I would want if I ordered a quad cab.
Of course, I told him I really
wanted the 5.7 Hemi, but since it wasnt an option, I had to pick the 4.7
or the 5.9L. I told him even if
Dodge had put the 4.7HO from the Grand Cherokee in the Dakotas it
would've been ok. But then he
tells me to hold on because he was told that the 2003 Dakota and the
2003 Durango would have the
5.7 available as an option after the 1st of the year and the demand for
the motor in the Ram was caught
up. I was kinda taken aback, and told him that everywhere I had read
and searched, included Buzzwatch
had said it would never make it into the Gen 3 and the Gen IV model
might possibly get it as a 2005 option.
He said he just came back from a sales conference from Chrysler and he
keeps swearing it would be coming
and they were making a midyear change and the 5.9 would not be an option
any longer and that whole family
of engines was dropped. I remarked that the new Durango was supposed to
be based on the Ram platform
and maybe that was what he was thinking of. But he keeps swearing it
was to be.
I dont believe him yet, I think he got his info crossed up, but if
there's any inkling of truth to what he says.....
