To change gear ratios (ring and pinion set) you are not required to remove
the whole axle from the truck. You will have to drop the driveshaft and
remove the splines (axles/halfshafts) though. Remember that when you are
changing the ring and pinion that you'll have to shim it after you get it
all in so that it will work properly. If you don't shim the right way
you'll eat up that new gearset real fast. If you've never done it before,
I'd strongly suggest that you have someone who has help you with this
project. It's not really that hard, but if you've never done it before it's
going to take you most of a day (if not two days) and you'll definately cut
yourself on the machined surfaces of the gears, watchout they're sharp!
