This looks like the time to weigh in on this thread.
If I understand the question, it's why do the tires break loose easier in LO
range than they do in HI range on moderately slippery surfaces?

Using 3.92 as an example for the differential ratio, and 2.72 as the
transfer case ratio, the final ratio at the wheels would be 10.66.
Which would be easier to spin the tires on a 2wd vehicle; one with a 3.92
differential ratio or one with 10.66?
