yes punch, it should downshift, depending on the driver...
if you dont move your foot on pedal, it may wait till about 10-15 mph below
the speed limit to down shift itself.. it will most certainly lockup torque
converter and drop out of OD into 3rd right away, soon enough you may not
notice..

as with any automatic, I tend to put a little more pedal down for the
upcoming hill, forcing a gear change before I hit... or run faster on the
down side of the hil before going up..

though with the 3.9mgnm turning 31x10.5x15 on my 3.55 gears I have lousy
exceleration to begin with so I tend to give it even more gas or many times
run with OD off just for the hell of it.

So my suggestion is if your truck is not shifting properly down when you
attempt to climb hills or accelarate up them(even down the road) you get it
to a reputable transmission shop and have it gone through or at least
checked out. But beware, some moron at the Chrysler assembly plants tend to
leave the filter tages that are wrapped in the plastic when you buy them, in
the tranny pan... found this on my '91 manual, and again on my '95
automatic which can potentially harm and/or block your trannies
performance..
