RE: Floor Jack Question

Ken, I do my own oil changes, tire rotation, and engine repairs where it is
possible using my floor jack/floor stands. Being under a 5500 lb vehicle
from a Ram to the little 1700 lb Suzuki can be quite intimidating not
knowing if something could go wrong with a floor jack or jack stand.

With the different vehicles the rule and thumb about car jacks is to get the
same amount lifting weight as with the truck. Example, if you have Gross
Vehicle Weight of 5000 pounds, then the minimal jack stands and floor jack
should equal the same.

It should have at least 50 percent of reserve holding capacity. More or
less, this is for safety due to any jack failure under load or stress.

However, in the case of the Hydraulics will not release the oil pressure,
then return the item if still under warranty or purchase a new one. Never
try to repair it yourself, just not worth your life. You are to important to
risk this...my .02 cents
