no its not based on the 426... i was reading that article, and they stated
that there is nothing based on the 426. other than a couple of identicle
(HEMI proprietary things) parts, there is nothing common between the two
(except the "heritage"). this is a totally new engine, which features less
extreme angles in the combustion chambers (screaming for an R/T head and
piston change). its about half the angle of the 426. re-read the article.

I'll se if I can find it. The reason I was thinking this was because of how the older magnum engines were, far cheaper in the materials dept. as in being able to share a platform, and by the one cutaway I saw and compared to the one I have from a far older article on the 4.7 where the two looked nearly the same. BTW, it's interesting about being based on a 426 Hemi. I've seen several of those and have helped rebuild one once and form the cutaway of the new Hemi there was absolutely no resemblance.

The Hemi block and the 4.7 are not the same. The design was based on the 426 Hemi. Check out the November issue of Hot Rod magazine.
