Here's something that I came across while surfing.

Well, after doing an assignment in my Engine Performance and
Technolgy class at the local college, I discovered something in
my Mopar Performance Part: Magnum Engine book, which has
EVERY specification you could possibly think of for the 8.0L, 5.9L,
5.2L, 3.9L, and even 2.5L Magnum Engines. The ENGINES OIL
FILTER BYPASS VALVE OPENS AT 9-15 PSI. To put that into
prospective, the 5.9L engine IDLE'S with 6 PSI and at 3000rpm's
30-80 PSI. so after about 1500rpm's your oil DOES NOT GET
FILTERED. This info. is taken directly from this book.

I have not had the chance to look into this but, if true, it may
alter everyone's opinions about oil filters.

Anybody aware of this?

Bob
