Subject: Re: DML: Magnum Engines Oil Filtration System
<If the system senses an increase of 9-15 PSI at the filter, the bypass
valve opens and oil flow goes around the filter thus
assuring an adequate supply of oil to the engine. Anybody else have an idea
if this is correct?>
Sounds right to me, Ray. Without a bypass, if the filter gets plugged, the
options are
: Block all oil flow to the rest of the engine.
: Blow out the side of the filter can and let it run down the side of the
engine
The bypass is to ensure that the engine still receives oil flow. Unfiltered
oil that is still flowing is better than no oil.
