OUCH! After all my performance mods, I get close to 19.5mpg with my '97 CC 5.2L Auto. I average about 16.5 as daily driver.. That's with me getting on it quite often, some stop & go traffic, and the other 1/2 of daily trip on hwy.
For a club cab, the 4.7 is definitely the way to go. The 3.9 is too underpowered. Usually gets the same or less MPG as the 4.7, and cannot pull as much and is slower. Actually, even the 5.2's got better MPG in a club cab. Co-worker of mine that I talked into buying a RC 3.9L says he gets about 16mpg average, which is almost 100% city driving (he lives like 3 miles from the office). So he and I get about the same, but I drive a CC (I probably get about 15mpg city)
