    On the other hand - my Ram now has an open element air filter
because I discovered the hard way how very well those stock air filters
and tubes function as a straw. :-) So, there are good reasons to
use them, even if it does hurt performance. (I am certain the hot
underhood air hurts performance much less than drinking the mud
pit.) ;-)
