Yep, gotta agree with Tony. We race a 2k2 Stratus R/T 2.7L and a 2k Grand
Cherokee 4.7L. Both are just as fast on 87 octane as they are with 89.
They both ran slower with 92 octane and got worse gas mileage.
My '92 Dak with MP PCM is faster with 92 octane than with 94. None of the
vehicles has ever pinged and all use the stock heat range spark plugs. We
do, however, avoid gas that contains alcohol. Yes, we've tried it; yes we
avoid it!
