oops a good search found this, the carrier bearings need the press.

 you doing this yourself, good luck adjusting them

  a.. Dial indicator
  b.. Genuine gear marking compound and a clean brush
  c.. Calipers or a micrometer
  d.. Bearing puller
  e.. Bearing press (or access to one)
  f.. Three foot long breaker bar or strong impact gun
  g.. Pinion nut socket
  h.. Six point cross pin bolt wrench
  i.. Pry bars for removing the carrier case
  j.. 48 oz plastic dead blow hammer
  k.. Assorted brass punches
  l.. Center punch or number stamp for marking main caps
  m.. foot pounds torque wrench
  n.. inch pounds torque wrench
