Sounds like the infamous Wiring Harness problem. Check the archives on www.dakota-truck.net for Wiring Harness, and that'll show you messages on where the wiring harness is, etc. What it boils down to is a wiring harness getting corroded over time, likely due to water trickling down to it (that's my understanding anyway)...
