If you really have your heart set on true duals then I'd have to say 2 1/4".
Remember, these likely won't be mandrel bent and the bends will be
compressed to a slightly smaller size. True duals will also be heavier than
a single 3".

IMHO, if your 318 doesn't breathe better than mine, a single 3", mandrel
bent system would be plenty. I use Doug Thorley headers and Gibson
cat-back. I have seen two highly modified 318, Gen II Daks run mid 12's
with this combination. As for mine, I run 13.70's and shift at 6000 rpm.
