There actually is a socket specifically designed for O2 sensors (or a
crescent wrench will work).
Definitely use anti-seize (not too much though).

Subject: DML: O2 sensor wrench size
What size wrench do I need to remove the O2 sensors? I only have
smaller open end but lots of sockets. I'm guessing 7/8" or 21mm. Also
is it advisable to put anti-seize on the threads of these or would that
be a no-no
:-)
TIA
Jay
