Absolutely. The Mopar 2.2 is bullet proof. I have over-revved mine over
heated mine I even drove for 3 miles with no water and the engine is fine.
Bear in mind that this is an SCCA race car with a completely stock bottom
end. They engine was pulled from an 87 Aries wagon and was not rebuilt. Heck
it is not even a turbo bottom end which is stronger. After every race season
I pull the head to check everything and every year I change the gasket (MP
gaskets are the best) and re-assemble as is. A more bullet proof engine does
not exist except maybe for the old slant six that the 2.2 was based in.
Don't believe me> Look at a 2.2 side by side with a slant 6. A 2.2 is a
metric ohc version with 2 less cylinders. Ever look at a 2.2 piston rod?
Looks a lot like an A engine rod.
