Hey, Jason,

<snip> Anyone have any good tricks for melting ice out of the driveway that
don't
involve rock salt<snip>

I bet your local supermarket has some Morton water-softener salt. I've used
that in a pinch - like when the local stores don't have any ice-melt. I've
used the BIG stuff. It makes REALLY BIG holes in the ice - right thru to the
ground. One nice thing about this stuff is that when it melts all the way
thru the ice, there are big enough "capsules" of salt left that can be
re-used on top of more ice ... Give it a try - IF you can find it up in the
Great White North...EH?
It's cheaper than ice-melt too....a 40 lb bag (18 Kilos) is a only about $4
US (no idea what THAT might equate to in Loonies, LOLOL!)
