Take the belt off and spin each accessory by hand 1 by 1 and check for
noise and excessive play in the parts. Tensioner is the most common
noise maker, but of course the alternator and water pump could be
suspect. Expect to see a leak if the p/s pump is going bad, and the
noise you would hear would not normally be a squeak. If you can do this
yourself, you should be able to replace the bad component. Expect a
tensioner to cost about $60-75 at a quality parts store-look for a unit
made by Dayco or Gates, you dont necessarily need to buy one from the
dodge dealer.
