Cannot help you on the speakers or the head unit.

Subs: I would take a good look at the MTX Thunderform. Search for it on ebay, there's always a handful of 'em up there for the Dakotas. Most of the sets on there are for the box, speakers and amp believe (2 10" subs, not sure on the amp). May want to put in a more powerful amp, but not sure. I'm not familiar with the thunderform, but I hear from other DML members that it's more than adequeate, but not overbearing. My best guess is it probably hits high 120's to low 130 db's, but that's just a guess. Personally, I run 4 12" (2 Kenwoods, 2 JL's)subs in a custom box that just sits on my rear seats, facing the subs rearward with a Rockford Fosgate 400w x 2 Amp. Drowning out the ricers is definitely not a problem :-) When I ran this system at a bass-off with the speakers facing forward and a Kenwood 150w x 2 amp, I was pushing 132db, which is what I would expect close to with the 2 MTX 10's. I'm hoping now that I push over 140db's. Course, with doing drag-racing now, the box is out, so I'm probably bar
ely hitting 100db's if that (stock system with Kenwood head)

I am not concerned with others being able to hear me blocks away, but I want to be able to drown out the guy in the ricer next to me - I don't wanna hear him.
