I have had 2875# (weighed) in my '99CC,4x4,318, with a bit of sag (that a roadmaster would probably help) and other than driving like a box-car, it seemed fine...

I believe Chrysler underestimates all of the Dakota's capacities. When I
moved back from Edmonton to Toronto in my '93 V6 automatic, I had well over
2000 lbs. loaded into it. I can't give you an exact amount, but the front
end was definitely raised. She handled the 2,000 (approx.) miles with ease.
I had placed board on the sides and tailgate so that I could load boxes
clear up to the roof of the cab. The Dak's towing and hauling capacities
are simply outstanding.
