Hey Bill,
<snip>I know it has been done as I've seen pic in magazines but does it
hold up? Any first hand painted handle
experience on the list?<snip>
I did the DAKSY about 2 years ago with paint & clear coat I got from
www.oempaints.com. They held up really good and looked GREAT for about the
first year and a half, but they started to deteriorate middle of this past
winter...It was a fairly severe one in the NorthEast & the driver's side,
which takes more road spray (& salt & sand) has taken a worse beating than
either the passenger's side or the tailgate. I did the sideview mirrors &
the OEM black grille with the same paint & other than the stone chips in the
grille, they (mirrors & grille) have held up better than the door
handles...like you were shown by your bud, the handles do get used and I'm
sure that has done some of the damage. I will hit them again with some wet
emery & recoat, if I can get my A-frame somewhat completed this summer...If
I don't get to it, soon, all the paint will probably fall off any way.
Just something else on my to do
list...(Roadmaster...Billsteins...cap...rotor...plugs...wires...x-fer
case...front & rear punkins...)
*sigh*...gotta get some more hours added to the day somewhere...
