14x3 fits fine on a Gen II, can't go that tall on the filter on a Gen III.
But don't do it anyway!! It will slow you down and cost you gas mileage.
If you have a Gen II, use the stock system with the splash shield removed
from the opening at the grill. If you have a Gen III, use one of the
aftermarket tubes with a cone style filter and remove the rubber flap beside
the radiator. Best types come with some sort of heat shield around the cone
filter.

Modified throttle body may or may not help performance. Depends on your
other mods.
