My '92 Ram with a 318 is "hunting" at idle. Sort've sounds
like its breathing heavy. :-) The RPMs will come up a little,
come down, there is a pause, then the whole cycle repeats itself.
I stuck my finger into the IAC cavity, and I can feel the plunger
open up *ever* so slightly, just before the RPMs rise.
So, it seems fairly obvious that the IAC plunger is opening
slightly, RPMs go up, IAC plunger closes slightly, RPMs go down.
What I'm wondering is why it would do this? Its almost as if
it is searching for a specific RPM, and the resolution of the IAC
motor just isn't high enough.
I'll try using the IAC motor from my '96 Dak to see if that
makes a difference, but figured I would check here first to
see if anyone had any other ideas.
Thanks!
