I can't help with the engine measurements, but I remember reading
that
the tranny is the same bolt pattern as used on the 4.7. (Which is
different
than the Magnum) So, an NV3500 or an auto behind the 4.7 should bolt up

I seem to recall something along the same lines. I read in either
Mopar Action or Mopar Muscle that the magazine is doing a Cuda built

Apparently,
DC promised them the first HEMI crate motor off the line.

Yep, the GenII/HEMI should be a nice combo. And shouldn't be too
big of a deal in a GenII - if a 440 will fit, that little HEMI should
too. :-) Sounds like a nice project! (I love spending other people's
money.) ;-)

I agree with what Bob said about the firewall clearance with the GenIII. When I had mine even the 4.7 was tight. I do believe it will fit in the GenII. That article you mentioned sounds familiar. I don't think it was the same article due since the 'cuda was involved and the one I read was nothing more than a page with a picture of the engine at the top. I know it was at least a year ago. I am not ready to do this but as I get information I sure could get my ducks lined up to do it.

Another reason I like the GenII for this swap is since the gauges and such are still mechanical for the most part I wouldn't have to woryy about having problems with them not working due to the Hemi's PCM not being compatible. Basically wiring would be much worse than on other engine swaps out there. I little worse than putting a new engine in a classic car but not too much worse (yes, I know these are work to do but in the world of custom cars if the measurements are close this wouldn't be a terrible project to take on with some good preplanning).
