Good catch, Punch - I hadn't even noticed that!

This is probably one of those times I have to give a little credit to GM and Ford. Not for the article, that is total BS but for an engineering item that they have brought out on some trucks.
In the Ford lineup if you look inside the bed of a Sportrac (I know ugly as hell) you'll find that the outside is the normal metal skin and the inside is a very heavy composite plastic material. Guy that works here has one and really uses his bed. After a couple of years of use and hauling everything from bricks to rocks and such it has held up very well. GM offers this type of bed (including the outside) as a $800+ option on there trucks. While I don't like the Saturn look outside I do like the fact of the heavy composite inside.
I am not saying this is the answer to everything it s a move in the right direction. Now we don't have to protect the bed with a liner or spray in. I am sure there are drawbacks and never having owned one of these myself I don't know what they are but it does show some ingenuity on the part of the designers of these trucks.
