I think it depends on what you're getting done... for wheels it might be a
touch pricier than painting, but the longevity of the coating will be worth
the extra money. I don't know if this helps, but I had ALL the engine
brackets, the alternator casing, and headers on my other car done for about
$300 (if i remember correctly) and they look great!
