As promised, Bob sent me the pics and description detailing how he
relocated the battery on his GenIII. (The procedure to do this on a
GenI or GenII would be pretty much identical.) I put it in HTML format
and put it in the "Maintenance, Modifications, & Upgrades" section of
the DML Home page. You can get to it from there, or here is the
