I believe 18.5 cents/gallon federal excise tax + 18.5 cents/gallon
state excise tax + local sales tax, which varies anywhere from about
7.5% in rural areas to the insane sales tax of LA and San Francisco.
I'm down to paying $1.63 here, but in early 2001 I was paying just a
few cents over $1.00 at the same station.
