That name was used in England in the 18th & 19th century
for the Liberal party. We don't use it much in Canada anymore
but, whenever it is, it's associated with the Liberal party.
Kind of like "wenches" for pickup trucks :-)
We also have a 3rd party (as well as a 4th & 5th!),
the New Democratic party. It's the "fashionable" name
for the socialist party. They're to the left of the Liberals.
They seem to feel that it's their God-given right to spend
other people's money, especially by heavily taxing the rich
and the middle-class. Of course, to them, middle-class is
anyone earning more than $18,000 :-( The Clintons and
Kennedys would feel right at home with them :-)
