It's really a matter of preference. I have a set of '99 R/T seats in my '96
and they look great. I got the charcoal ones and really like them. On the
other hand to use a set of Gen III seats in a Gen II you have to make a way
to adapt the seat tracks of the older Gen II seats over to the new ones
since the measurements on the Gen III seats are smaller. That took me a
couple of days to figure out but I really like the end result. If that's not
something you really want to deal with the aftermarket seats usually have an
adapter that just bolting it in. I really flotif seats myself and also
recaros.
