I got a tire gauge at Pep Boys a while back, it was around $10
and seemed like a decent quality piece. They called it a "4x4 tire
gauge". Basically a round gauge with a rubber protective piece around
it connected to a short length of hose with a chuck on the end.

Seems to be pretty good except that one day the needle started
zeroing out at 10psi. So, when the gauge reads 45psi, you actually
have 35psi in the tire. (And as the Adam Blaster found out at
last year's BBQ, when it reads 17psi, you actually only have 7psi
and your tire will come off the rim if you "give 'er" through the
mud pit.) ;-)
