Can you relate it to the front suspension compression/extending? Check
the intermediate steering shaft - if it wears to a certain point (I
think the "slip" portion is where it is), it'll do this. Removing &
reinstalling may be enough to fix it (just jiggles things in place), or
you may have to replace it outright.
